The Lahore High Court conditionally suspends the Rs5 million damages ruling against Meesha Shafi.

The Lahore High Court has provisionally stayed the Rs5 million damages levied against singer Meesha Shafi in a defamation lawsuit initiated by Ali Zafar.
Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad presided over Meesha Shafi’s appeal, with her attorney Advocate Saqib Jillani presenting before the court. The court, however, denied the petition to entirely suspend the trial court’s ruling.
During the hearing, Justice Ahmad Nadeem Arshad stated that the trial court had prohibited Meesha Shafi from reiterating allegations of sexual harassment, and that aspect of the ruling could not be stayed. He stated that no individual should be permitted to make such charges.

The appeal states that the session court ruled in favour of Ali Zafar, mandating Meesha Shafi to pay Rs5 million in damages.
The high court instructed Meesha Shafi to remit fifty percent of the penalty with the court and to provide a surety bond for the outstanding sum. The court issued a notice to Ali Zafar and requested his response during the proceedings.
