Kisan Card initiative changing lives of farmers: CM Maryam

More than 8,32,000 farmers in Punjab have been handed Kisan Cards, according to official estimates.

The statistics revealed that these farmers together took agricultural loans worth Rs 2.54 billion under the scheme.

Farmers have used the Kisan Card facility to purchase agriculture inputs worth Rs100 billion during the wheat season and Rs90 billion financial support has been offered for the Kharif crop season.

Besides this, the programme has provided inputs worth Rs 30 billion for almost 300,000 farmers.

Officials claimed over 86% of the Rs67 billion recovery target has been accomplished among 538,000 farmers who are bound to repay Rs67 billion and Rs57 billion has been previously repaid in installments.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Kisan Card plan is changing the fate of farmers and they will no longer have to depend on intermediaries and will be stepping towards financial independence and success.

She also lauded farmers for timely repayments and called it as “good example” of accountability and progress.
