In Rawalpindi, Islamabad, heavy rain causes floods while warning sirens sound.

On Wednesday, Nullah Lai’s water levels sharply increased due to heavy rains in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. As a result, authorities sounded warning sirens and advised nearby residents to stay vigilant.

After the intense downpour, Katarian’s water levels rose by 22 feet, sparking fears of flooding in neighbouring low-lying communities.

Residents around Nullah Lai have been instructed by authorities to take safety precautions and, if needed, relocate to safer areas. Teams from the Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa) have been sent to Nullah Lai and other susceptible locations to deal with potential flooding, along with heavy equipment.

With 66 millimetres, Saidpur had the most rainfall of the two cities.
