Fire breaks out at Karachi Mayor’s office at KMC Headquarters

The fire that broke out at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) offices on M.A. Jinnah Road on Tuesday gutted the office of Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab. No injuries were recorded in the incident.
The blaze started in the kitchen next to the mayor’s office and spread to the office, causing considerable damage, fire department officials said. Three fire tenders were rushed to contain the blaze and firefighters managed to snuff out the fire.
Officials could not immediately say what caused the fire and further research will be needed to identify how it started.
The event took place at the KMC head office situated on the M.A. Jinnah Road where the central administrative offices of the municipal corporation are housed.
The incident follows a big fire at a clothing factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone the day before. The fire severely damaged the facility and rescue officials later declared the structure involved as unsafe.
The cause of the KMC fire will be determined by authorities following damage assessment and investigation of the incident.
