A number of Islamabad government schools will be closed tomorrow due to anticipated protests and increased security concerns. Authorities have stepped up preparations throughout the federal capital.

Sources claim that parents have been notified about the holiday by school administrations. Schools in Sector G-7 and Sitara Market will house police officers, while a government school in Sector F-7/3 has also been shut down.

In the meantime, the government of Islamabad has increased its readiness to handle any protest marches and sit-ins in the nation’s capital. In order to keep demonstrators from entering the city from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials have decided to dig trenches on important routes and totally close off the Red Zone.

Additionally, plans are in motion to erect barriers on a number of Islamabad roadways. Workers are expediting the process of filling empty containers with bags of earth to be used as temporary barriers.
