Pakistan, Egypt agree to enhance cooperation in many fields

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Ati on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York where the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the age-old relations between Pakistan and Egypt.

The two foreign ministers discussed measures to deepen bilateral cooperation especially in trade, investment and economic connections, Pakistan’s Foreign Office said in a statement.

They also discussed ways to strengthen educational and cultural linkages and people-to-people contacts.

The group also discussed regional and international developments including the situation in the Middle East and Iran.

Both sides stressed the significance of discourse, negotiations and diplomacy in addressing regional concerns.

“All parties must ensure full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, said Ishaq Dar.

The two sides also agreed on the need to continue consultations under the regional framework.

Pakistan and Egypt also agreed to strengthen communication and cooperation on matters of mutual concern.

They called for international cooperation and a functioning multilateral structure to confront new global concerns.
