Maryam Nawaz okays Rs10bn subsidy to control flour prices

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has expressed her concern over the increase in grain prices in the province and approved a subsidy of Rs10 billion to make flour available at affordable costs.
The chief minister held an emergency meeting over video link and asked the officials to ensure that affordable flour and wheat are available to the public at any cost.
The committee decided to raise the quota of subsidized government wheat being provided to the flour mills at Rs3,800 per maund. The participants also decided to provide Rs10 billion subsidy to provide flour at cheaper rates, which was later authorized by Maryam Nawaz.
CM Punjab urged the concerned agencies to utilize all available resources to enable the people to purchase flour at cheaper rates.
“The burden of inflation on the people of Punjab is extremely painful,” the chief minister stated and assured that the government will use all resources available to offer affordable flour.
She said the supply of subsidized flour and roti at low rates will continue and cautioned that ignorance in this regard would not be allowed.
