Sharjeel blames centre for delay in completion of uplift projects in Sindh

Sindh government has asked federal government ministries to immediately shift utility installations hampering the building and expansion of roads and perform their duties.
Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon warned that carelessness of relevant federal agencies is damaging public development projects.
HESCO and SEPCO have been paid compensation for shifting of electricity poles erected on roads but poles are still not being shifted from roads under construction.
Payment was received five years ago for removing poles from road in Sukkur but poles have not been removed until date, said Sharjeel Inam Memon. HESCO SEPCO K-Electric Sui Southern Gas and other relevant utility providers will have to perform their duties.
He said that Sindh government is spending big money on development projects but delays in transfer of installations by utility providers are impeding completion of the projects.
Sharjeel Memon said power poles on highways are hindering traffic flow and causing accidents, while other utility installations are also hampering the building and extension of roadways.
The provincial minister stated that it is beyond understanding why the poles and other facilities have not yet been transferred even after the payment of compensation and the concerned authorities should expedite the progress in this regard.
The main cause for the delay in Red Line project was the delay in shifting utility installations and poles to other areas, Sharjeel Inam Memon said.
Moving power, gas and other utilities that stand in the way of development projects is the duty of appropriate institutions.
He further added that the Sindh government is doing all required steps to complete the projects of public interest, federal utility authorities should also play their due role so that there is no obstruction in the development works of the province.
The concerned agencies should transfer the poles and other utility equipment put on the highways at the earliest.
