A few political parties manipulating the Gul Plaza tragedy: Sharjeel

Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Information Minister, claimed on Friday that the Gul Plaza tragedy is being politicized by certain political parties.

Gul Plaza’s development and clearance were not influenced by the Sindh government or the Pakistan People’s Party, according to Sharjeel Memon. He said that the local governments and the pertinent organizations at the time were in charge of making all choices.

He further mentioned that in 1983, when Abdul Sattar Afghani was mayor, permission was given to build Gul Plaza. In 1991, the land lease was extended, and Farooq Sattar, in his role as mayor, signed the lease agreements.

The provincial minister added that in 2003, while Naimatullah Khan was Karachi’s mayor, anomalies pertaining to Gul Plaza were properly regularized. He underlined that all of these measures were implemented prior to the 18th Amendment to the Constitution.
