A list has been developed for the transfers of LHC and IHC judges under the new amendment.

A detailed enumeration created pursuant to the 27th Constitutional Amendment, advocating the reassignment of 10 judges from the Lahore High Court (LHC) and 4 judges from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to different provinces.

Sources indicate that, under the proposal, judges will be allocated to different provincial benches for durations spanning six months to two years.

According to reports, the majority of the suggested transfers pertain to assignments at the Zhob bench of the Balochistan High Court and the Larkana, Sukkur, and Mirpurkhas benches of the Sindh High Court.

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan would have the ultimate authority to approve these transfers and is anticipated to evaluate the proposed list shortly.

The enactment of the 27th Amendment eliminates the necessity for consultation with the relevant court regarding inter-provincial transfers. Subsequent to the reorganization of the Judicial Commission, a total of 14 judges from the Lahore High Court and Islamabad High Court are scheduled to be reassigned to various high court benches nationwide.

The judges of the Lahore High Court recommended for transfer are: Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza, Justice Faisal Zaman Khan, Justice Shahid Karim, Justice Sajid Mahmood Sethi, Justice Asjad Javed Ghural, Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh, Justice Asim Hafeez, Justice Amjad Rafiq, Justice Anwar Hussain, and Justice Raheel Kamran Sheikh.

Likewise, four judges from the Islamabad High Court—Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan, Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, and Justice Babar Sattar—are scheduled for assignment to different provinces.

Authorities have verified that a meeting of the newly reformed Judicial Commission would be scheduled shortly. In this session, commission members will cast their votes on the proposed transfers, and the majority’s decision will be executed.
