A youth is injured by kite string in the Gajumata region of Lahore.

A young man suffered severe injuries when a kite string severed his throat as he was riding a motorcycle in the Gajumata district of Kahna, Lahore, on Friday.

Rescue teams transported the minor, named as Faisal, to a hospital in Lahore for medical treatment. Rescue sources reported that the injured individual was in stable condition.

The Punjab government has declared the Basant festival, scheduled for February 6 to 8, featuring kite flying under stringent regulations prohibiting the use of metallic wire for kite flying.

The law prescribes stringent penalties and substantial fines for individuals who contravene the regulations established for safe kite flying.
