According to people close to the group, Hezbollah halts its attacks under the US-Iran ceasefire.

As part of the earlier-announced US-Iran ceasefire, Hezbollah in Lebanon stopped firing on Israeli troops in Lebanon and northern Israel in the early hours of Wednesday, three Lebanese sources close to the group told Reuters.

The two-week ceasefire would cover Lebanon, where a new conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah started on March 2, according to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, a crucial mediator in the ceasefire negotiations.

Iran wants Lebanon to be part of whatever agreement it negotiated with the US, according to a story published by Reuters last month.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated early on Wednesday that Lebanon would not be part of the ceasefire.

One southern city has received a fresh evacuation order from Israel, suggesting an impending attack.

According to the three Lebanese sources, Iran-backed Hezbollah is expected to release a statement stating its official stance on the truce and Netanyahu’s claim that Lebanon is excluded.

Hezbollah claimed to have attacked Israeli troops inside Lebanon on Tuesday night in its final public statement on its military operations, which was uploaded at one in the morning on Tuesday.

Israel’s air and military campaign in Lebanon has killed over 1,500 people, including over 100 women and 130 children.

Over 1.2 million people have been displaced by Israel’s strikes and orders to flee large areas of the south, east, and southern suburbs of Beirut.

Due to continued Israeli attacks and the dangers of explosive ordnance, Lebanon’s army warned displaced people on Wednesday to postpone returning home.
