Agreements worth $273 million were reached on the last day of the Pakistan maritime summit.

The navy reported that 83 agreements totaling Rs76 billion [273.6 million] were signed by local and international exhibitors during the four-day Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025, which came to an end on Thursday.

178 exhibitors participated in PIMEC’s second edition, which took place from November 3–6, including 150 local organizations and 28 foreign companies. During the conference, these organizations displayed a variety of maritime innovations, technology, and services.

According to the navy, 133 international delegations from 44 nations in Europe, Asia, North America, South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East also attended the event.

“With the signing of 83 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) worth Rs76 billion [$273.6 million] between national and international exhibitors across multiple maritime sectors, the second edition of PIMEC-25 marked a major milestone in advancing Pakistan’s maritime and blue economy agenda,” the Pakistan Navy stated.

The agreements’ signing, according to the navy, will be a “concrete signal” from Pakistan to foreign investors, highlighting its dedication to developing strategic alliances, encouraging technology transfer, boosting capacity-building, and opening up significant opportunities in the maritime industry.

“Pakistan’s potential as a maritime hub is highlighted by the successful completion of PIMEC-25, which also reflects the country’s growing role in shaping the regional Blue Economy landscape,” the statement read.

Pakistan’s maritime sector has been neglected for decades due to its 1,046 km of coastline along a significant global trade route, its aging port infrastructure, and its falling seafood exports.

Though investment and implementation have delayed, successive administrations have recognized the blue economy as a potential engine of prosperity, energy security, and climate resilience.

By 2047, Islamabad wants to become a global center for the blue economy that propels sustainable growth throughout the Indian and North Arabian oceans, according to Pakistan’s minister of maritime affairs.
