Following his swearing-in ceremony in Dhaka, Tarique Rahman, the recently elected prime minister of Bangladesh, was visited by Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal.
On behalf of the Pakistani government and people, Minister Iqbal, the country’s prime minister, offered heartfelt congratulations to Bangladesh, wishing it peace, development, and prosperity under Tarique Rahman’s direction. Bangladesh-Pakistan ties
Both leaders discussed measures to boost regional cooperation and revitalize bilateral ties during the meeting. Noting that past conflicts have impeded regional integration, Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the necessity of reviving SAARC in order to foster regional connectivity and a common geoeconomic vision for South Asia.
A “Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor” was suggested by Minister Iqbal to improve cooperation in academia, research, and technology. He declared that in order to boost faculty and student exchange programs and investigate twin-university partnerships, the chairman of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) would travel to Bangladesh.
With a focus on youth participation, he revealed that 500 scholarships had been given to Bangladeshi students, 75 of whom are already pursuing higher education in Pakistan.
