Amid regional tensions, Tarar cautions against discussing Pakistan’s foreign policy.

Azam Nazeer Tarar, the Federal Minister for Law, urged moderation in discussions pertaining to the nation’s foreign policy, stating that Pakistan is a nuclear power and a defense state with a significant role in the region.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, the law minister stated that Pakistan has a clear position on its foreign and defense policies and that the current state of affairs has deeply alarmed people worldwide.
He claimed that Pakistan has made a concerted effort to resolve the matter diplomatically and has made a solid case in the UN Security Council.
He advised people to avoid superfluous debate on Pakistan’s foreign policy.
According to Azam Nazeer Tarar, the prime minister has postponed his scheduled trip to Russia due to the sensitive regional situation and is in communication with neighboring countries.
Every citizen has the right to freedom of expression under Article 19 of the Constitution, he continued, but there are legal limitations.
He emphasized the need for vigilance when it comes to issues pertaining to Islam, national security, and state interests, cautioning that any red line crossed will result in legal action.
Speaking at the event, Attaullah Tarar stated that some people follow trends just to get more views, which can give Muslim nations the idea that such statements reflect official policy.
He argued that local politics shouldn’t come at the expense of foreign policy.

He added that Pakistan maintains cordial ties with nations in the region and that making needless remarks regarding foreign policy on social media could be detrimental.
Attaullah Tarar went on to say that he is obligated by the Constitution and his oath to speak in line with the Foreign Office’s perspective. He stated that opinions on such delicate subjects shouldn’t be influenced by one’s own preferences or political objectives.
While criticism pertaining to domestic politics is still acceptable, the information minister also pointed out that remarks made in Pakistani media are occasionally interpreted overseas as official state policy, thus care must be used when making comments on social and electronic media.
