Announcement of the distribution of 100,000 electric bikes to students in Punjab

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has declared the allocation of 100,000 electric bicycles for schoolchildren throughout the province.
The chief minister announced that the Punjab government will develop IT cities in several districts and create an artificial intelligence hub in Lahore.
Maryam Nawaz announced that the government will initiate the annual distribution of 100,000 computers and an equivalent number of scholarships commencing next year.
She established the Parwaz Card, a scheme aimed at facilitating career development for skilled youth.
She stated that districts including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Layyah, Bhakkar, and Sahiwal will receive equitable focus within the province government’s development program.
She stated that an expedited implementation of scholarship and laptop programs may have benefitted a greater number of pupils.
The chief minister detailed advancements in housing initiatives, indicating that construction is in place for 125,000 residences under the Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar scheme.
She stated that 50,000 houses are completed, however more than 70,000 are still under construction.
She stated that the government will allocate three marla plots to landless citizens under the Apni Zameen, Apna Ghar initiative.
She announced a variety of youth-oriented measures, designating 2026 as the “Year of Youth” during her address at an Honhar Scholarship and Laptop Scheme event in Lodhran.
She allocated laptops and distinguished scholarships to students from Multan and Bahawalpur in Lodhran.
Maryam Nawaz gave laptops to 9,005 exemplary pupils during the occasion.
1,295 students from government colleges, 6,655 students from universities, and 1,055 students from medical and dental colleges received computers.
In September, the Punjab government officially unveiled the Punjab Laptop Scheme 2025, a progressive initiative designed to promote digital literacy and academic achievement.
The initiative was sanctioned to distribute laptops to students attending public sector institutions around the province.
The initiative is expected to:
Assist underprivileged pupils in obtaining access to technology.
Enhance accessibility to online education, research resources, and virtual courses.
Motivate students to excel academically using technology-driven incentives.
The subsequent phase builds upon previous achievements, during which 14,000 laptops were distributed solely in Lahore. The enhanced initiative will now extend to students throughout Punjab, demonstrating the government’s dedication to modernizing education and fostering innovation.
