As Indian speakers leave the Oxford Union discussion, Pakistan declares an uncontested victory.

The Pakistan High Commission in London said that Indian speakers abruptly pulled out of a recognised Oxford Union debate, giving Pakistan a major intellectual win.

Dr. Muhammad Faisal, former Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, and Gen. (R) Zubair Mehmood Hayat were among the notable Pakistani delegates who attended the debate in London. Just prior to the ceremony, the Indian delegation, which included Sachin Pilot, Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, and Gen. MM Naravane, withdrew.

The High Commission observed that India’s attempts to substitute lesser-known speakers for its well-known speakers fell short of the Pakistani team’s expectations. The debate’s balance and legitimacy were weakened by this last-minute substitution.

Pakistan maintained that the main goal of India’s policy against Pakistan is to stir up popular sentiment. Even at a neutral venue like the Oxford Union, Indian speakers completely avoided the conversation, revealing the flaw in their argument.

The Indian delegation declined to participate in the voting, even though the bulk of Indian students were present. Indian analysts who spread anti-Pakistan myths in the media but shun scholarly discourse when questioned were chastised by the High Commission.

The High Commission highlighted India’s resistance to engagement and accountability, calling the withdrawal a continuation of its rhetorical and diplomatic failures since May 2025. Pakistan, on the other hand, was ready with confident, well-reasoned, and legal arguments.

India’s legitimacy has been called into doubt as a result of this episode, while Pakistan’s rational and disciplined approach was praised as an example of preparation and intellectual engagement.
