As rain is predicted for KP, PDMA issues a flash flood warning.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), heavy rainfall is predicted to start today in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s upper regions, raising fears about potential flash floods.

According to the PDMA, rain is expected to persist in a number of the province’s higher regions from today until Thursday. In susceptible mountainous regions, the anticipated rainfall could raise the danger of flash floods.

Authorities also cautioned that an unexpected increase in temperature has raised the likelihood of glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs). Warmer temperatures may hasten the melting of glaciers, resulting in the overflow or rupture of glacial lakes.

Such events could cause abrupt flooding in neighboring valleys and streams, endangering nearby populations and infrastructure, according to the disaster management organization.

The district administrations in question have received orders from the PDMA asking them to exercise prudence and stay vigilant. Due to the anticipated weather, local authorities have been warned to make sure they are ready to handle any emergency situation.

Additionally, residents in high-risk locations have been advised to keep up with weather updates and adhere to government-issued safety measures.
