Basant preparations are on despite the skyrocketing cost of kites and strings.

In spite of the skyrocketing costs of kite-flying supplies, fans are visiting marketplaces in Lahore to buy kites and kite strings of their choosing as the Basant preparations get underway.
Due to the Lahore district administration’s decision not to set pricing for kites and strings, the prices of these items skyrocketed due to the influx of clients. Retailers have begun to set their own prices.
One tawa gadda, or medium-sized kite, costs between Rs. 300 and Rs. 400, while a one-and-a-half tawa gadda, or large kite, costs between Rs. 500 and Rs. 600, according to reports. Prices for even small kites have increased to between Rs200 and Rs300.
A two-piece string spool (pinna) costs between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 12,000, whereas a one-piece string spool costs between Rs. 4,500 and Rs. 5,000. The public has called on the government to set official kite and string rates.
Azma Bukhari, the Punjab Information Minister, stated that people should be responsible during Basant. According to her, Lahore has seen the sale of kites valued at Rs340 million. Price complaints about kites are being received, and steps are being taken to balance supply and demand.
