Before Basant, Lahore establishes registration fees for kite makers.

After receiving conditional license to celebrate Basant, the district administration in Lahore has announced registration costs for manufacturers of kites and strings.

Officials say the action follows the Punjab government’s approval of Basant’s resurrection under stringent guidelines. In accordance with this ruling, the administration has released explicit guidelines to control the production of kites, the preparation of strings, and organized kite-flying events throughout the city.

Manufacturers of kites and strings would have to pay a Rs. 1,000 registration fee under the new policy. In the meanwhile, associations that fly kites will need to register and pay a cost of Rs 5,000. Kite-flying associations must submit Form C to the appropriate authorities for registration, while kite and string manufactures must submit Form A.

Additionally, the administration has released particular safety guidelines for the manufacturing of string. Only cotton-based thread would be allowed to be used to make kite strings, officials explained. In order to reduce the possibility of accidents and injuries related to sharp or reinforced strings, it is also expressly forbidden to utilize more than nine strands in a string.

According to the authorities, these precautions are meant to protect the public, stop the use of dangerous materials, and uphold peace and order during Basant festivities. Only registered producers and associations that adhere to the established guidelines will be permitted to operate, they stressed.

The district administration issued a warning that violators will face severe consequences, including fines and legal action. In order for the traditional celebration to be enjoyed in a safe and peaceful manner, citizens have been asked to assist the authorities and celebrate Basant responsibly.
