Before the PTI rally, Quetta roads are closed and internet access is suspended.

Major roads and streets in Quetta have been closed by the district government in advance of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aeen Pakistan and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rallies.

As part of the city’s increased security, authorities have also halted internet and mobile services.

Section 144, which forbids public meetings throughout the province for a month, was allegedly rejected by the PTI, according to officials. But PTI has insisted on staging the rally in spite of the limitations.

People have been severely disrupted by the road closures, especially students who are attempting to get to school and college. While blockades at major roads and intersections have caused severe traffic jams that have left commuters detained for hours, many reported being unable to attend lessons.

The government has asked citizens to refrain from needless travel until the situation has stabilized and warned security personnel to keep a careful eye on the issue. The city’s everyday operations and communication have been significantly impacted by the internet ban.

PTI leadership has reiterated its intention to organize the event in spite of these restrictions, characterizing it as a protest in favor of the restoration of democratic rights and constitutional primacy. The party declared that their aims would not be thwarted by administrative limitations.

Authorities are keeping a close security presence as the demonstration time draws near, and residents are urged to heed official directives and keep abreast of developments.
