Body of a woman who fell into an open manhole in Lahore has been recovered.

Rescue personnel recovered the body of a lady who fell into an open manhole near Data Darbar in Lahore, along with her nine-month-old daughter, after more than five hours.

Rescue sources report that a corpse was retrieved from the sewage pipe on Outfall Road, as the search operation persists for the missing youngster.

The DIG Operations Lahore has verified the recovery of the deceased woman who fell down the manhole, while the child remains unaccounted for, and a rescue mission is in progress to find her.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran informed the media of the incident when a woman and daughter fell into a manhole near Data Darbar, stating that the regrettable event was reported and a call was made to 1122, prompting a comprehensive investigation of the matter.

He stated that following the finding of the woman’s body, all institutions are collaboratively engaged in the search for the child. A committee has been established to examine carelessness in the case, and several officers have been suspended for incompetence. The woman’s corpse was retrieved from Outfall Road.

Faisal Kamran additionally asserted that the CCTV evidence corroborated the husband’s account in its entirety. The family departed after performing prayers at Data Darbar when the catastrophe transpired. The officials of Safe City have obtained all pertinent footage.

Prior to the retrieval of the woman’s body, rescue officials stated that it was technically implausible for an individual to drown in the sewer pit where it was alleged that two individuals had fallen. The identified location was Bird Market adjacent to Data Darbar, where the authorities had been conducting excavation activities.

Rescue reports indicated that the region was devoid of illumination at the time of the tragedy. Specialized crews from Rescue 1122 and divers were at the location within minutes, while the Lahore administration reported that an examination of the sewage line indicated no incident had transpired there.

Simultaneously, the father of the missing woman provided a statement to the police asserting that his daughter had been murdered. Subsequent to this declaration, law enforcement apprehended three individuals, including the woman’s spouse, who were subsequently freed.
