Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz mandates the implementation of colored dustbins for rubbish collection in Punjab.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, initiated a significant program for garbage disposal by instructing relevant authorities to build colored dustbins in all marketplaces, shopping malls, commercial areas, government offices, and educational institutions.
In Phase I, authority was granted in September of the previous year to execute the ‘Smart Waste Management Process’ in governmental and private educational institutions throughout Punjab.
Yellow Containers
Paper, packing materials, and refuse will be collected in yellow bins;
Recycling Bins
Laboratory bottles, glass fragments, and waste materials will be disposed of in green bins;
Purple (gray) receptacles
Fruit peels, food waste, leaves, and decayed vegetables will be disposed of in purple (gray) bins;
Crimson receptacles
Red containers will be designated for iron and other metallic debris.
Amber receptacles
Orange receptacles will be designated for plastic refuse.
These things will facilitate reusability, and the objective of this creative approach is to diminish waste and encourage environmentally sustainable practices.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued an official notification regarding the project’s implementation.
Educational institutions may contact the Punjab Management Helpline (1139) for waste collection, while the Local Government and Community Development Department would be responsible for managing colored waste.
The effort also seeks to fulfill the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals pertaining to urban cleanliness and elevate Punjab to global standards.
On the previous day, the Punjab government enacted a prohibition on Qingqi rickshaws along five major highways in Lahore.
The provincial government has prohibited Qingqi rickshaws on Mall Road, Jail Road, and Canal Road.
Additionally, Qingqi rickshaws have been prohibited on Main Boulevard Gulberg and Main Ferozpur Road.
The government has prohibited Qingqi rickshaws to ensure the unobstructed flow of traffic and prevent congestion on the city’s essential thoroughfares.
The Punjab government has declared a measure to mitigate smog and enhance air quality.
