Chief Minister Maryam pledges to safeguard the rights of journalists.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that violence and oppression against journalists who convey the truth must cease.

In her message on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the chief minister said that responsible press freedom is the cornerstone of democracy, and a robust democratic society necessitates independent media.

She stated that journalists serve as the protectors of social justice and the representatives of the populace. Individuals who reveal injustice, cruelty, and deceit are considered heroes. As chief minister, she is dedicated to safeguarding press freedom.

Maryam Nawaz stated that the government is implementing several measures to protect journalists’ rights and is committed to assisting homeless journalists in realising their aspiration of homeownership. She affirmed that her administration supports those who pursue the truth and would safeguard their rights.

She additionally stated that the objective of commemorating this day is to honour journalists who were murdered or endured hardship for upholding the truth.

She asserted that media and journalists are secure in Punjab, and by the grace of Allah Almighty, no acts of murder or violence against them have transpired – nor will they.
