Chinese companies to provide modern firefighting equipment to Sindh

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, led a high-level meeting at CM House to strengthen cooperation between Sindh and China on projects that were agreed upon after President Asif Ali Zardari of Pakistan visited China recently.
Officials claimed the talks were mostly about translating a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) into real projects in areas like energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and public services.
Murad Ali Shah informed ministries and high-ranking officials that the agreements have to lead to “actionable progress” instead of just being on paper. He instructed departments to set clear deadlines and work better with federal authorities and Chinese partners.
Fire safety and emergency services:
One of the ideas that was talked about was a plan to update fire and emergency services by working with Chinese companies to get new fire engines, response systems, and build more fire stations.
The CM was told that the talks are concluded and that a government-to-government agreement is being worked on.
Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, has told the Local Government Department to speed up the process and make sure the agreement is finalised as soon as possible.
In Thar, coal gasification and urea production are
There was talk about a big industrial project in Thar that would turn coal into gas to make fertiliser.
The goal of the project, which is supported by cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese companies, is to turn local coal into ammonia and urea. This might make the country less dependent on imports. By May 2026, feasibility studies should be done.
Project to track and trace livestock:
Authorities in the agriculture and livestock industry looked over plans to set up sophisticated systems for tracking cattle, a vaccination program, and places to test for diseases. Plans include transferring technology, setting up diagnostic facilities, and making a cattle registration authority work.
Environmental cooperation and water projects:
There were additional plans for sewage treatment and water supply that were looked at. However, certain solutions were not financially feasible, and the chief minister called for alternatives that were more cost-effective and long-lasting.
The group also talked about plans for a controlled agriculture science and education park that would help make crops more productive and food more secure. There was also talk of a tyre recycling project that would be built in a special economic zone.
At the end of the meeting, the chief minister said again that collaboration between Pakistan and China had a lot of promise for Sindh’s growth.
He told all departments to take the initiative, work together with other departments, and keep up the pace of their interactions with Chinese investors.
