Desecration of a house of worship constitutes a violation of religious equality, according to the spokeswoman for FO.

Pakistan asserted that the desecration of any place of worship represents a breach of the values of religious equality and undermines the communal sense of security and mutual respect that all communities merit.

Tahir Andrabi, spokesperson for the Foreign Office, made these statements on Friday in response to an inquiry concerning Pakistan’s stance on the anniversary of the demolition of the Babri Mosque on December 6th.

He stated, “Babri Masjid is ingrained in our collective memory.” On 6 December 1992, this significant mosque in Ayodhya was demolished under circumstances that persistently elicit profound sorrow and apprehension. The event continues to be disconcerting for anyone who oppose prejudice and religious discrimination.

Pakistan asserts that the conservation of religious heritage and sacred sites is a collective obligation of the world community. It is imperative that all actions that undermine Muslim religious symbols or historical heritage be confronted with transparency, responsibility, and a steadfast dedication to justice,” he stated.

He stated, “The ongoing perception of marginalization and emotional turmoil faced by Indian Muslims following this event is a significant concern.” Encouraged by governmental support, Hindu nationalist organizations are now advocating for the total segregation of Indian Muslims and other religious minorities.

Pakistan prioritizes interfaith unity and peaceful coexistence. He urged the world community, including pertinent UN bodies and prominent global figures, to recognize the significance of preserving Muslim religious history and to assist in preventing the recurrence of such distressing events.

The spokesperson stated, “Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the rights and religious freedoms of minorities within its territory, in accordance with its legal obligations.”

On the anniversary of the Babri Masjid’s collapse, Pakistan conveys sympathy with Muslims who persistently experience the profound grief linked to this event. “Let this occasion not only commemorate a painful event but also reaffirm the universal values of dignity, justice, and respect for sacred heritage,” he added.

He stated, “Pakistan implores the Indian government to cultivate an atmosphere of tolerance and inclusivity, guaranteeing equal citizenship rights and reciprocal respect among all religious and cultural communities.”
