Despite regional uncertainties, the PM stated that fuel reserves were adequate.

Even though the government is stepping up monitoring and conservation efforts in response to changing regional and global conditions, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was advised on Tuesday that Pakistan has enough petroleum stockpiles to meet present national requirements.

During a high-level meeting presided over by the prime minister to assess the execution of fuel conservation and austerity measures, the assurance was made.

The meeting was informed by officials that the nation’s petroleum stocks are still sufficient and are being properly monitored. To quickly identify any anomalies in supply or distribution, thorough records are kept.

In order to guarantee continuous gasoline supplies, the prime minister instructed the Ministry of Petroleum to fortify the import supply chain. He emphasized that until the situation stabilizes, all pertinent institutions must continue to be ready to take emergency action.

The Intelligence Bureau will regularly provide monitoring reports on how the government’s directions were being carried out, the meeting was also informed.

Participants pointed out that as part of larger austerity measures, cabinet officials had willingly given up their wages. Positive effects were already being seen from government departments using less gasoline, and the savings were anticipated to lessen public pressure.

According to officials, coordinated measures are being made to ensure stability in vital supplies, and the entire situation is being continuously monitored.

The committee was also informed that there are enough pharmaceutical supplies on hand to suit the country’s demands.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has implemented specific connectivity arrangements that allow government departments to operate e-office systems remotely under work-from-home protocols in order to promote continuity of governance.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and ministers in charge of finance, petroleum, information, and economic affairs were among the senior cabinet members and important officials present at the meeting.
