DPM Dar and Kyrgyz Minister reaffirm their willingness to improve relations between their two countries.

On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met with Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs Zheenbek Kulubaev, who is in Pakistan with the Kyrgyz President on a State visit. The two sides agreed to keep working together to enhance and expand their collaboration in all areas of mutual interest during the meeting. They also talked about all the different aspects of their relationship, with a focus on trade, energy, connectivity, education, and people-to-people ties, as well as better cooperation at international forums. The two presidents also talked on recent events in the area and throughout the world that were of interest to both of them. They also went over the different bilateral agreements that will be signed during the visit. The two sides decided to arrange regular sessions of the Bilateral Political Consultations and the Bilateral Intergovernmental Commission between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan to make the most of their relationship. Both leaders agreed to improve economic cooperation between their countries and were happy to see that a business forum was held during the visit. The two presidents also hoped that finishing the Transit Trade Agreement quickly would help them reach their goal of $100 million in trade between the two countries. Both sides said again that they want the CASA-1000 project to be finished on time and in a way that works. They also talked about how important it is to have safe, long-lasting, and varied ways for people to interact between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan in order to boost trade between the two countries and the region as a whole. The deputy prime minister also thanked the Kyrgyz Republic’s government and people for being kind to Pakistani students and workers. He also agreed to take steps to make people-to-people interaction more formal and better. Ishaq Dar talked about the dangers to peace and security in South Asia and stressed how important it is for the countries in the region to show prudence and act responsibly. He stressed that the peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, was necessary for long-lasting peace in South Asia. The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed how important it is to talk and utilize diplomacy to deal with the menace of terrorism and keep Afghan land from being used against Pakistan and other countries. He stressed that Pakistan wants Afghanistan to be stable, connected to the region, and at peace with itself and all of its neighbors. The two presidents resolved to keep working together at all levels, including the UN, SCO, OIC, and ECO, to keep the area safe and peaceful and to help it grow and thrive.
