ECP releases the PP-289 DG Khan by-election schedule.

A by-election in PP-289 Dera Ghazi Khan-IV will take place on January 25, 2026, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The seat became vacant when Mehmood Qadir Khan was announced as the returned candidate from NA-185 DG Khan-II.

On December 8, a public notice will be released in accordance with the schedule. The list of nominated candidates will be released on December 13. Nomination papers may be submitted between December 10 and December 12.

The timetable states that on December 18, nomination papers will be inspected. The deadline for filing an appeal against a returning officer’s decision to accept or reject papers is December 22. Appellate tribunals will make a decision on these challenges by December 29.

December 30 is when the updated list of candidates will be released, and December 31 is when candidates must withdraw their applications and the final list will be made public. Polling will be held on January 25 after election symbols are distributed on January 1.
