Fazlur Rehman warns against efforts to control madrasas.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the leader of JUI-F, has cautioned against efforts to seize control of Islamic madrasas and condemned the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), claiming that faith is beyond the dominion of secular authorities.
During a turban-tying ceremony at Madrasa Taalim-ul-Quran in Raja Bazar, Rehman stated, “America may presently wield global dominance, yet it lacks the power of faith.”
He asserted that if religious institutions and students are subjected to scrutiny, they will serve as a benchmark for those who seek to contest them.
Advocacy for madrasas
The JUI-F leader emphasized the significance of madrasas in safeguarding Quranic and Hadith studies. He remembered that Allama Shabbir Usmani was deemed uneducated by the British, emphasizing that such sentiments endure today, where religious knowledge is frequently devalued.
Rehman emphasized that academics from many schools of thought are unified in their defense of madrasas. He stated, “We advocate for dialogue and will adhere to laws established through consultation, yet no form of deceit will be permitted.”
Rehman informed the madrasa students that had they prioritized effort above mere slogans, they might have secured the majority of seats in Punjab, underscoring the significance of commitment in conjunction with faith-based education.
