FCC requests KP CM’s answer about the creation of the “Imran Khan Release Force”

Regarding the creation of the “Imran Khan Release Force,” Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has been asked by the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) to respond within ten days.

A petition contesting the force’s legitimacy was heard by a three-judge panel led by Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan. The government was instructed to explicitly state its stance on the subject by the court, which also handed out notices.

The petitioner’s attorney contended at the hearing that the establishment of such a force might be against the law and the constitution. He provided a variety of records and proof, including citations to news stories that raised possible security issues.

The bench questioned whether the force’s formation had been authorized by the provincial cabinet. The petitioner’s attorney responded by saying that the cabinet had not given any such consent.

The federal government must make sure that there are no legal infractions, the court stated. The Chief Justice pointed out that creating a force connected to a convicted person’s release presents significant legal challenges.

The attorney also cited statements made by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who allegedly claimed to be dealing with “criminal elements,” throughout the proceedings. The court also asked for more information on this claim.

The hearing was postponed till a later time.
