Following the Taliban’s return, Pakistan experienced a fresh wave of terror: US diary

According to the international newspaper “The Diplomat,” Pakistan is the nation most impacted by the negative consequences of the Taliban dictatorship.

“The Diplomat” claims that whereas Pakistan saw the Taliban’s return in 2021 as a chance for regional stability, the outcome was the exact opposite. Even though Pakistan gave the Taliban substantial diplomatic and humanitarian backing, the country’s security situation was getting worse.

The American journal claims that following the Taliban’s return, Pakistan experienced a fresh wave of terrorism. Terrorists from the TTP, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS Khorasan are still operating in Afghanistan.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists are the most active in cross-border attacks from Afghanistan, according to “The Diplomat,” which claims that Afghan territory is continuously being exploited for terrorism against Pakistan.

According to the American journal, 70 percent of terrorist attacks in Pakistan involve Afghan citizens, and India has quickly increased its connections with the Taliban leadership by reopening its diplomatic mission in Kabul.

Growing relations between the Taliban and India are posing a threat to Pakistan, which has lost over 80,000 people in the fight against terrorism, according to “The Diplomat.”

The American magazine claims that at first, Pakistan favoured regional diplomacy, negotiation, and mediation above conflict.

Pakistan tried to use regional diplomacy, religious mediation, and bilateral negotiations to settle the dispute.

According to the diplomat, a deal to remove TTP terrorists from the border regions was achieved through the United Arab Emirates’ mediation. The Taliban has not taken any action against the TTP in spite of their assurances.

The American publication claims that Pakistan adopted a strategy of limited military action combined with talks because the Taliban had not kept their commitments.

“The Diplomat” claims that in September and October of 2025, Pakistan had to target TTP bases that were operating in Afghanistan. Nevertheless, Pakistan did not shut down diplomatic ties entirely; Qatar and Turkey continued to mediate between Pakistan and the Taliban.
