Four female doctors were suspended over a video of a “C-section competition.”

After a video of a “competition” between physicians to undertake C-section procedures first went popular on social media, four female doctors at Lahore’s Lady Willingdon Hospital have been put on leave.
The video, which was filmed in the hospital’s operating room, shows surgeons joking about who would finish the procedure first. This raises major questions about human dignity and medical ethics.
The Punjab government sent a show-cause notice to the head of the Gynaecology Department and asked the medical superintendent of Lady Willingdon Hospital to give an official explanation in response to the occurrence.
Dr. Fatima Toor, Dr. Mahem Amin, Dr. Zainab Tahir, and Dr. Ayesha Afzal are the four doctors whose postgraduate studies has been put on hold.
Khawaja Salman Rafique, the Provincial Health Minister, spoke out against the event, claiming it went against medical ethics, hurt the dignity of patients, and broke professional standards.
Azmat Mehmood, the Punjab Health Secretary, said that if the people in charge did not respond in a suitable way within the time frame set, they would face more consequences.
The show-cause notice said that what the doctors did went against patient safety guidelines and the idea that people should trust medical professionals.
The authorities stated the episode showed how careless it was to do clinical work and how hospital rules were broken.
