The government requests that the Supreme Court release the dam fund amount.
The Supreme Court was ordered by the federal government on Wednesday to release the funds that were collected for the construction of the Mohmand and Diamer-Bhasha dams.
The case was heard by a four-member bench of the top court led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Additional Attorney General Amir Rehman stated, “We have submitted a miscellaneous petition.”
AAG begged the court to give the full amount of funds from the dams to Wapda and the federal government. “The Supreme Court was supervising the State Bank when they opened an account,” government counsel stated.
The Pakistani Chief Justice inquired, “How many funds are deposited in the dams’ funds account?” “Wappda lawyer Saad Rasool responded, ‘There are about 20 billion rupees in dams’ funds.”
CJP Justice Faez Isa inquired as to “how this case began.” “In 2018, the Wapda’s cases were under hearing at the Supreme Court,” the counsel for the Wapda responded.
“17 hearings were held by the Supreme Court’s dams funds implementation bench,” the attorney added.
“Quazi Faez Isa questioned whether additional Wapda projects would arise if the Supreme Court oversaw all Wapda projects.” Wapda’s attorney said that there were disagreements between private parties about the construction of dams. An attorney stated, “The Supreme Court scheduled hearings of private parties with it.”
The legal dispute between private parties had to be heard in the appropriate courtrooms, Wapda attorneys said.
The hearing was postponed while the court called for a concerned record of the matter.
In July 2018, the Supreme Court declared the creation of a fund to build dams using crowdsourcing.
Two massive dams in the nation, Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam, are to be built with the help of this cash.
