Groom among four fatalities in car-truck collision in Jamrud

In Jamrud town, Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a head-on collision between a car and a truck late Saturday night resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a groom, and left one person injured.

Rescue officials reported that the accident transpired as the groom was returning from a salon with his companions following wedding preparations. The collision abruptly transformed wedding festivities into grief.

Law enforcement and rescue personnel promptly arrived at the location and transported the deceased and the injured individual to a nearby medical facility.

The individuals that perished were named as Nauman, Mansoor, Sohail, and Zarab. Upon learning of the groom’s demise, expressions of sorrow were observed at the wedding venue.

The police secured the area, gathered evidence from the site, and initiated an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident.

Earlier this month, another groom was fatally shot in a distinct event in Jamrud as a result of celebratory gunfire after a wedding ceremony.

As per law enforcement and local reports, the groom, named Asad Afghani, sustained a gunshot wound to the chest from a bullet discharged during celebratory gunfire purportedly executed by his relatives.

Asad perished instantly, whilst another individual, recognized as Irfan, incurred injuries and was transported to a hospital for medical care.

The police stated they acted promptly upon getting information regarding the incident. The police apprehended the suspect, named Ismatullah, within hours and filed a First Information Report (FIR). The Jamrud police reported that evidence was gathered from the scene, and an additional investigation is in progress.

Officials cautioned against aerial gunfire during public gatherings, deeming it a perilous and unlawful activity that persists in taking innocent lives.
