Guards thwart an attempt to infiltrate near the Pakistan-Afghan border: ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan army’s media relations department, said that on August 18, or 19, 2024, “a group of Khwarij, who were trying to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, were picked up by the security forces in Bajaur District.”

Their attempt to penetrate was successfully repelled by Pakistani army personnel. Four of the Fitna al Khwarij’s khwarij were hurt, and five of them were shot dead as a result.

Still, during the fierce gunfight, three soldiers—Naik Inayat Khan, a 36-year-old from Khyber District; Lance Naik Umer Hayat, a 35-year-old from Mansehra District; and Sepoy Waqar Khan, a 25-year-old from Peshawar District—embraced Shahadat (martyrdom).

As for President Asif Ali Zardari, he was deeply saddened by the three troops who lost their lives in a battle with terrorists in Bajaur. In his eulogy, President Zardari said that the nation as a whole is proud of its martyrs and would always be appreciative of their supreme sacrifice made in defense of the country. He gave the military credit for their valor in stopping the terrorists’ attempt at infiltration and destroying them.

“The nation as a whole honors the Pakistan Armed Forces’ patriotism and selflessness,” stated President Zardari. He also prayed that the martyrs’ ranks would be raised and that the relatives of the deceased would be granted patience.

Shehbaz Sharif, the prime minister, also paid tribute to the three fallen soldiers and commended the security forces for eliminating five rebels in Bajaur. In the struggle against terrorism, he prayed for the families of the martyrs and repeated the sentiment of standing in solidarity with the Pakistani armed forces.

Ali Amin Gandapur, the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, expressed his delight in the three courageous troops who became martyrs while safeguarding the country and praised the boldness and plan of the security forces. In recognition of the nation’s obligation to the troops’ and their families’ sacrifices, he prayed for their promotion and for patience for their families.

According to ISPR, Pakistan has repeatedly requested from the Interim Afghan Government that they be allowed to maintain efficient border administration on their end. It is anticipated that Khwarij will not be allowed to use Afghan territory to carry out terrorist attacks against Pakistan if the interim Afghan government fulfills its duties.
