Gul Plaza inferno: 73 bodies’ remains have been processed medico-legally

The remains of 73 people that were found during search and rescue efforts following the Gul Plaza disaster have undergone the medico-legal process.
Three more bodies have been identified thanks to DNA testing, according to Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed. There have been 27 bodies identified thus far. 56 family DNA samples for 65 missing persons have been gathered. There are currently 74 people who have died as a result of the tragedy.
In the meantime, 48 bodies’ DNA samples have been sent to the University of Karachi. The impacted building has been turned over to the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), and search and debris clearance efforts at Gul Plaza have been suspended. The district administration claims that SBCA specialists will choose whether or not to demolish the building.
