IHC will consider a petition against the nomination of Judge Nasir Javed Rana in a £190 million lawsuit.

The appeal contesting the appointment of District and Sessions Judge Nasir Javed Rana, who jailed PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the £190 million NAB case, was ordered by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday to be heard during the second week of November.
Usama Riaz filed a miscellaneous petition with the IHC’s Chief Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar, asking for an early hearing on the matter contesting the judge’s appointment.
The chief justice questioned Advocate Riaz Hanif Rahi, the petitioner’s attorney, throughout the proceedings regarding the case’s nature and its connection to a 2004 order. The attorney retorted that Nasir Javed Rana’s appointment as a judge is unlawful as the Supreme Court (SC) ruled on October 19, 2004, that he was unsuitable to serve as a judge.
The petition was filed in the late Wahab Al-Khairi’s place because, according to Advocate Rahi, he would have personally defended the ruling if he had been still living.
The case will be heard in the second week of November, Chief Justice Dogar said, adding that he wasn’t feeling well today. The judge then ordered that the matter be scheduled for the designated date and adjourned the hearing.
