In four weeks, Punjab reported 1,695 cases of measles.

In the first four weeks of 2026, 1,695 suspected cases of measles were detected in Punjab, the DG Health Services Punjab stated to the Lahore High Court.

330 patients have been laboratory-confirmed measles cases this year, according to the report, which was submitted in a case involving measles deaths. Forty outbreak notifications have also been sent out throughout the province.

Punjab reported 23,680 suspected cases of measles in 2024, 6,747 of which were verified in a lab, leading to 16 fatalities. In 2025, there were 19,913 suspected cases of measles, 4,000 confirmed cases, and 4 measles-related deaths.

The DG Health Services stated that in reaction to this year’s outbreak, surveillance and monitoring measures have been reinforced. Under the direction of the Chief Secretary and the Health Minister, a number of meetings have been held, and directives have been given to enhance monitoring and surveillance at the district and hospital levels.

Children in the province between the ages of six months and five years received free measles vaccinations during a measles vaccination campaign that took place from November 17 to 29, 2025.
