In just two years, electricity transmission losses have surpassed Rs600 billion.

In a written response to the National Assembly, Federal Minister for Power Division Owais Laghari stated that over the previous two years, Pakistan’s energy transmission losses have topped Rs 600 billion.
The administration admitted that numerous feeders operated by large distribution companies experienced load shedding lasting at least ten hours. For instance:
604 of 814 feeders owned by Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) are impacted.
407 out of 707 feeders for SEPCO
TESCO: 357 feeders, 174
PESCO: 1,376 feeders, 642
322 out of 747 feeders for HESCO
Of 286 feeders, 37 are owned by Hazara Electric.
During the 10-hour load shedding in LESCO, IESCO, GEPCO, and FESCO, no feeder was reported.
8.78 billion units of electricity were utilized between July and December 2025, and the number of protected users countrywide rose from 9.5 million in October 2021 to 21.55 million.
Off-grid solar capacity increased to 12.62 MW by December 2025, while net metering capacity reached 7,000 MW.
In the previous two fiscal years, transmission losses were:
FY 2024–25: 284 billion rupees
FY 2023–2024: 322 billion rupees
Among distribution companies, the biggest losses were documented in:
PESCO: 96 billion rupees
Rs 46 billion for LESCO
SEPCO: 37 billion rupees
HESCO: 22 billion rupees
The information shows that the nation needs better management, fewer losses, and a greater supply of electricity.
