In Karachi, an elderly man falls into an open manhole and dies.

An elderly man in Karachi lost his life after falling into an open drain in the Korangi neighborhood due to administrative carelessness.

The elderly resident abruptly fell into the open manhole near the Kabaddi Ground in Korangi No. 3, where he instantly passed away. The man is seen losing his balance and falling down the exposed drain in CCTV footage of the incident.

Details indicate that the deceased lived in Zaman Town, Sector 34/3. Locals called it a blatant instance of government carelessness and blamed the disaster on the lack of a protective wall surrounding the drain.

The lack of basic safety precautions infuriated the public, who also claimed that their previous protests about exposed manholes had gone unanswered. In order to stop more deaths, they called on the administration to take prompt action to secure open drains throughout the city.

Notably, a similar occurrence occurred in Karachi a few days ago when Ibrahim, a 3-year-old toddler, died after falling into an uncovered manhole.
