In response to public demand, Pakistan’s government plans to amend its solar net metering regulations.

After intense public pressure, the government is anticipated to amend solar net metering legislation. In order to protect current contracts and resolve consumer concerns, authorities have taken action.
Sources claim that a letter asking for a review of the new solar net metering regulations has been issued to NEPRA. In the meantime, the regulator has received a formal review request from the Power Division.
The proposed modifications address the previous decision to switch from solar net metering to net-billing and are intended to protect current contracts for customers. After personally observing the situation, the Prime Minister gave the Power Division the order to start the review.
According to officials, the changes aim to provide the public with a fair stake by striking the correct balance between promoting the use of renewable energy sources and safeguarding the interests of solar users.
