In the contentious tweets case, Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were each given ten years in prison by an Islamabad district court.

The decision in the case against Hadi Ali Chattha and Imaan Mazari was declared by District and Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka.

Even though the high court had previously ordered the accused to cross-examine prosecution witnesses by today, both of them abstained from today’s court hearings.

Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha appeared in court via video connection since they were on judicial remand in another matter.

Hadi Ali Chattha and Imaan Mazari were placed under 14 days of judicial remand.

State Counsel Taimoor Janjua represented the accused, while Barristers Fahad, Usman Rana, and Mansoor Azam represented the prosecution.

Five witnesses in all were called by the prosecution. Additionally, the prosecution filed a challan that was longer than thirty pages.

Imaan Mazari and Hadi Ali Chattha were charged with spreading anti-state propaganda and furthering the goals of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) and other outlawed groups.

The prosecution presented a number of tweets from Hadi Ali Chattha and Imaan Mazari as evidence.

The court also heard a speech by Imaan Mazari that was considered anti-state.

The court sentenced both defendants to five years in jail under Section 9 of the PECA Act and ten years in prison under Section 10.
