Italy gives Pakistan a three-year quota of 10,500 jobs.

For the first time, a European nation has formally assigned labour quotas to Pakistani workers, as the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development said on Saturday that Pakistan had acquired a quota of 10,500 jobs from Italy for the next three years.

According to the agreement, 3,500 Pakistani workers—1,500 under seasonal quotas and 2,000 under non-seasonal quotas—will be hired in Italy each year. Jobs in industries like shipbreaking, hospitality, healthcare, and agriculture will be available.

The ministry claims that a variety of occupations, such as welding, technical trades, culinary services, hospitality staff, nursing, medical technicians, and agricultural labour, will employ trained and semi-skilled personnel.

Officials are characterising the quota allocation as a major step towards increasing job prospects for Pakistanis in the European labour market, following years of cooperation between the two nations.

According to a ministry spokeswoman, Italy was the first European nation to give Pakistan such job quotas. The second meeting of the Pakistan–Italy Joint Working Group is planned for February 2026 in Islamabad.

Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, praised the development and described it as a significant turning point.

According to him, the arrangement was a reflection of the government’s ongoing attempts to give Pakistani workers respectable jobs abroad.

According to the minister, “Overseas Pakistanis are ambassadors of the country and play a vital role in strengthening the national economy.” He expressed hope that similar agreements with other European nations would soon be concluded.
