Judge remands Shah Mehmood Qureshi
Following the completion of his 19-day physical remand in connection with the May 9 riot cases, the PTI leader was brought before the court.
The PTI leader was placed in police jail for a period of 14 days on judicial remand after the court denied the motion to prolong the physical remand.
During his physical remand time, Qureshi—who is already behind bars due to charges—was questioned in Adiala Jail.
Prior to this, in a separate case, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) cleared PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former prime minister Imran Khan.
The ruling on the applications contesting the conviction in the cipher case was announced by Chief Justice Aamir Farooq of the IHC and Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb.
PTI founder and party vice-chairman were both given ten years in prison in a cipher case in January of this year.
Because of Imran’s sentencing in the Toshakhana and Iddat cases and Qureshi’s recent arrest in connection with May 9 crimes, it is not anticipated that the two would be released from prison.
