Khamenei’s wife passes away because to injuries she received from US-Israeli strikes.

According to Iranian official media, the wife of Iran’s deceased Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei passed away from wounds she received in recent US-Israeli airstrikes.
Since the strikes on February 28 that murdered Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking Iranian officials, Mansoureh Khojasteh Bagherzadeh, 79, had been in a coma.
Because of the severity of her injuries, she died on March 2.
Her passing coincides with increased regional tensions after last week’s strikes, which Iranian media reported killed and injured a number of high-ranking Iranian officials.
US President Donald Trump has previously stated that at least 48 important Iranian leaders have been killed by combined US-Israeli strikes, claiming that Iran’s whole leadership has been destroyed and that many officials are attempting to surrender.
Key Iranian officials killed in US-Israeli strikes are listed.
The official news agency IRNA announced that top leadership and Iran’s 86-year-old Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were martyred in Saturday’s strikes. His daughter, son-in-law, and 14-year-old granddaughter were also killed in the incident.
The strikes also killed Ali Shamkhani, a senior aide to Khamenei and the seventy-year-old secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council who previously managed US-Iranian nuclear program negotiations.
During the 12-day Iran-Israel crisis in June 2025, Shamkhani survived a targeted Israeli strike.
After former President Hassan Rouhani, he was one of the longest-serving officials, having led the council for more than ten years.
