KP finance advisor criticizes federal government for significant fuel price increase

Muzammil Aslam, Finance Adviser of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has vehemently condemned the federal government over the recent escalation in petroleum product prices.

Muzammil Aslam stated that the increase in gasoline prices would exacerbate challenges for the populace, noting that the nation is now experiencing 45 percent poverty and the greatest unemployment rate in the last 21 years.

Pakistan’s tenuous economic recovery is jeopardized by regional turmoil.

He asserted that the global oil price currently approximates 80 dollars per barrel and inquired about the government’s plan, questioning the implications of a potential increase to 120 dollars per barrel.

Muzammil Aslam inquired if the government will subsequently raise petroleum prices by as much as 500 rupees, thereby exacerbating the public’s financial stress.

The government has announced a price rise of Rs55 per liter for petrol and diesel. Subsequent to the raise, the revised price of petrol has attained Rs321.17 per liter, whereas diesel is now valued at Rs335.86 per liter.
