Lahore airport flight operations are disrupted by heavy rain.
The airport in Lahore is currently parked with its planes submerged in accumulated rains. To make room for aircraft takeoffs and landings, however, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) staff is working to clear the runway and surrounding area.
In just three hours, 350 millimeters of rain fell over Lahore, breaking a record that had stood for 44 years due to intense monsoon showers.
The Met Office states that from August 1 to August 6, with sporadic breaks, there will likely be intense monsoon currents that enter the country from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal in the upper regions, resulting in deluges of rain.
Roads and streets in the provincial capital were submerged by rain in multiple locations. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) experienced a disruption in its electricity supply due to around 288 of its feeders tripping due to rainfall.
While noting that workers are attempting to restore the supply, LESCO has urged customers to use caution.
