Lahore is the second most polluted city in the world.

The international air quality monitoring group IQAir identified Lahore as the second most polluted large city in the world.

With an average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 274 on Saturday morning, the Indian capital topped the list of the world’s most polluted large cities, followed by Lahore with an AQI of 228.

In Lahore, the AQI was measured at three different locations: Lower Mall (441), Bedian Road (324), and Raiwind Road (310). According to experts, an AQI exceeding 302 increases the risk of respiratory and other illnesses, posing major health concerns to people.

The air quality in Multan, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Bahawalpur has became severely unhealthy due to the intensity of the haze. The AQI increased to 443 in Multan, 294 in Sialkot, 278 in Gujranwala, and 217 in Bahawalpur.

To protect themselves from the negative effects of smog, individuals have been strongly recommended by health professionals to use masks and refrain from needless outside activities.
