Lahore police dismantle significant electricity theft operation, confiscating counterfeit meters valued at about Rs 55 million.

The Lahore police, in collaboration with the assistant engineer of Gulshan Ravi and the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), executed a significant operation targeting energy theft on a barricaded route, revealing illicit connections valued at over Rs 55 million.

A representative from LESCO (Lahore Electric Supply Company) stated that a factory manufacturing shopping bags was illicitly diverting electricity by utilizing counterfeit meters.

The plant has additionally expanded its illicit connections through subterranean wires to provide electricity to another location.

During the operation, LESCO teams seized the illicit meters and subterranean cables.

They issued detection bills for more than 120,000 units and secured the apprehension of the persons implicated in the fraud.

The operation underscores LESCO’s continuous initiatives to mitigate electricity theft and ensure legal adherence in industrial establishments throughout Lahore.

Officials have underscored that illicit power supply incurs substantial financial losses and presents significant safety problems, including potential fire hazards from defective wiring.

The police and LESCO have pledged to persist in collaborative operations to dismantle these networks and ensure accountability for the culprits.
